The NewsIn the budget at the end of 2009, the government decided to abolish the benefits towards spectacles. However the sight test is still completely covered by PRSI entitlements.
For those patients who would have been covered for spectacles by their PRSI in the past,we provide a specially discounted range of frames and lenses to help reduce the hardship this government is inflicting.
It is my view that the removal of this benefit amounts to theft - people who have paid into a social fund with the expectation of treatment benefits for eyes and teeth now have that fund stolen from them and given to some bank that got us where we are in the first place. Not sure what else you can call it.
