Vision Aid Overseas runs a nationwide spectacle collection scheme which operates to raise money for our work. Recycled spectacles are not sent overseas.

Vision Aid Overseas will ensure spectacles are recycled in an environmentally-friendly way and income generated from recycling is used to support our programmes overseas.

At Major Opticians Waterford we are delighted to support this great initiative.

Our sister store in Carrick on Suir regularly donates glasses to the Lions Club – Lions Recycle for Sight program.  An old unused pair of glasses can change another person’s life.

Throughout the year, Lions, Leo’s and other volunteers collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centres where volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. Recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in low and middle income communities where they will have the greatest impact.
