3D OCT Scan

OCT Scan

Vision is a precious gift. The eyes have a remarkable ability to see near, far, in low light, and in bright light! As light enters the eye, it is carefully focused onto the light-sensitive retina. The retina is only around a third of a millimetre in thickness, yet it is made from 10 layers of specialised light-detecting cells. The retina is the most specialised area in our body. Once light is detected, electrical impulses travel to the optic nerve. The optic nerve collects information sent from over 100 million light detecting cells. This is why careful examination is important.

Conventional examination methods only provide a superficial view – without information about deeper layers of the retina and optic nerve. The 3D OCT, is a revolutionary device that, for the first time, allows complete 3D visualisation of the retina and optic nerve. OCT scans provide your practitioner with high-resolution views of the underlying retina.

It takes less than 5 minutes for an OCT scan. Once complete, your practitioner will be able to make a highly detailed assessment of your retina. Computer generated reports compare your eyes to the values found in a healthy population. 3D OCT is invaluable for anyone who wants accurate, detailed assessment of their eyes over time.

3D OCT is available here. Sight really is a precious gift. Ask about 3D OCT for total peace of mind.
